Abstract

The chapter confronts that the character Black Widow is resigned to both MCU and print limbo after the end of v.8, a brief but critically acclaimed 15 issues. The core team of v.8 offers readers one of the best solo series featuring Black WidowâKelly Thompson (writer), Elena Casagrande (artist), Jordie Bellaire (colorist), and Adam Hughes (cover artist) with additional artists Rafael De Latorre, Carlos GÃ³mez, and Rafael Pimentel. While many familiar patterns are once again found in v.8, this run is held together by the unifying purpose that resonates throughout the writing and the visual power, solidly anchored in a creative team of women (Thompson, Casagrande, and Bellaire). After Black Widowâs death in the MCU, Marvel released her only solo film, Black Widow (2021), which prompted the controversy around Johanssonâs relationship with Disney. This title film includes origin details, Yelena Belova, and a complex portrayal of the woman and the superhero.
