Abstract

In this chapter, I address ways in which the Anti-Racism Initiative (ARI) of the G20 Interfaith Forum (IF20) examines and responds to the pervasive existence of racism in its historical contexts, as well as its myriad manifestations in contemporary times. Through its network of religiously linked institutions and experts, the ARI mobilizes its platform to actively engage with the G20 process. The ARI develops programs and global policy initiatives that strive to have racism acknowledged as affecting all aspects of human undertaking. The ARI contemporaneously raises awareness about the different ways in which racism expresses itself by hosting topical conversations and writing blogs and policy briefs that educate and inform the public about this global challenge. Faith communities provide collective values and ethics that serve as a moral compass by which both secularists and religious can study the present and chart the future. The ARI is an open platform of broad engagement that assists in dilating the lens of insularity to the global lens of inclusivity, thereby affirming the dignity of all persons.
