Abstract

In this chapter, I consider how Susan Gerofsky’s use of diverse scales, media, forms of collaboration, and types of bodily engagement generate living mathematical taskscapes that feature unique opportunities for mathematical enskilment akin to those found in embodied apprenticeships like medicine, craft, scientific fieldwork, and somatic practices like martial arts, yoga, and dance. Using Charles Goodwin’s co-operative action framework, I explore how instructional practices can take shape in these vibrant, animated mathematical landscapes.
