Abstract

Chapter 5 explains the author’s own practice of “relational reading” by engaging with two different philosophers who have helped to shape who she is as a student-centred and teacher-supportive educator: Gert Biesta and Maxine Greene. Both thinkers model a balance between focusing on care for both student and teacher, thus opening the door for the author to consider how joy can be used to sustain that care over time.
