The Ius municpale Magdeburgense (the Magdeburg Weichbild) in the Silesian-MaÅopolska compilation was the most important collection of Magdeburg law applied in the cities of the medieval kingdom of Poland. This volume includes not only the critical editions of three texts corresponding to the main development of the Weichbild, but also marginal notes by contemporary and later usersâ (in Latin, Polish and German), providing valuable insights into the legal workings of the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. An English translation of the official text of 1506 completes the work.
Maciej MikuÅa, Ph.D. (2012), Jagiellonian University in Krakow, is Professor of Polish legal history at that university. He has published monographs, editions of primary sources and many articles on medieval and early modern law, including Municipal Magdeburg Law (Ius municipale Magdeburgense) in Late Medieval Poland. A Study on the Evolution and Adaptation of Law (Brill, 2021).
