Biometric variables of Actinia equina mediterranea Form 1 were correlated with one another to identify those that are independent of size, and could therefore be used for taxonomic purposes. The length, surface area, and volume of the cnidae are correlated significantly with individual weight of the anemones. The ratios length/width and surface area/volume of cnidae were constant over a wide range of sizes, and may, therefore, be taxonomically useful.
