Samples of Gammarus aequicauda associated with formations of the polychaete Fico-pomatus enigmaticus were collected in an isolated channel of the Evros Delta (NE Greece). Population density varied greatly throughout the year, having low values in February-June 1983, and high ones from August to November 1983; despite its abrupt decline after November 1983, it remained on higher levels than during February-June 1983. An egg-ratio analysis of the population is discussed in relation to the life cycle of the species and to the most important environmental and biological factors.
