One inarticulate brachiopod, Neocrania turbinata (Poli), and four articulate brachiopods, Gryphus vitreus (Born), Argyrotheca cuneata (Risso), A. cordata (Risso) and Megerlia truncata (Linnaeus) are described from collections from previously unrecorded areas of the eastern Mediterranean and Elat. Descriptions include information upon the musculature and its function, and species distributions. The species Megerlia monstruosa (Scacchi) is recognized as distinct from M. truncata, but it includes M. echinata (Fischer & Oehlert).
