The Canuellidae, level-bottom Harpacticoida from the waters surrounding the Sinai Peninsula, were observed in order to study the behaviour of a family of meiobenthic animals, in the process of migration through the Suez Canal. It seems that agitation of the Canal bottom by passing ships favourably assisted the dispersal of meiobenthic animals. Canuella perplexa and Camellina insignis are considered part of the euryhaline autochthonous fauna of the Suez Isthmus. Camellina canalis n. sp. is described along with the male of Canuella insignis Gurney.
