17 species of Stomatopoda collected by the 1962 and 1965 Israel South Red Sea Expedition and 2 additional species obtained in the Red Sea from other sources are described and discussed. Eight species are new to the fauna of the Red Sea, and two are new to science.
The large number of new species is mainly due to the newly used collecting techniques (pro-noxfish poisoning and trawling).
The large series thus obtained facilitated a comparative study of the material.
