A total of 374 brown rats, collected over a period of one year from the same locality (an area of approximately 1 km2 in the southern part of Tel-Aviv), were examined for infection with Nippostrongylus brasiliensis. The overall infection rate was 27.5%, with 34.0% of the female and 21.2% of the male rats infected. The incidence of the parasite according to season of the year and age of the host is discussed.
