Abstract
Historically, Dersim has served as a confluence of various peoples and cultures, including the Hattians, Hittites, Urartians, Greeks, Armenians, Zazas, Kurds, and Turks. This diversity has given rise to a rich and complex cultural, linguistic, and religious tapestry that has significantly shaped the regionâs identity over millennia. The interactions among these groups have left an indelible mark on the region, contributing to its unique cultural heritage. One of the most tangible reflections of this multifaceted history is found in the regionâs toponymic landscape, which provides a valuable lens through which it is possible to explore the intricate historical and cultural dynamics of the area. The present paper seeks to examine the origin of the toponym CâaÅman, located within the Berdak (Turk. Pertek) district.
