Abstract

This chapter discusses Richard Shustermanâs pragmatist and nonessentialist view of the self. SnÃ¦varr argues that Shusterman fails to develop a sufficiently ontological perspective of the self, but that elements of such a view do, in fact, appear in Shustermanâs pragmatist aesthetics, and may be unified and developed for the view wanted.
