Abstract

The article inspects DâHolbachâs Le Christianisme dÃ©voilÃ© with regard to its overall critical attitude to religion and religions. His work exemplifies the strategies radical thinkers used to communicate their anti-religious standpoints. The article examines the perspective of the âunveilerâ and the process of unveiling as a contribution to the development of the notion of religion during the radical French Enlightenment. To the unveiling, enlightened and stereotyping view, the âotherâ is religion, while religion itself is othering. The result of the unveiling process is a morally structured perspective that is unlocked by notions derived from questionable religious ideas.
