Towards the last decade of the twentieth century, many countries around the world embarked on rounds of educational reform regarding their school mathematics curricula at all levels. Taiwan is no exception in this wave of reform effort. Since most past curricula information were written in Chinese and hence unknown to the international readers, this chapter will first give a brief introduction of the Taiwan educational system together with a description of its past curricula development. Emphasis will be directed towards the more recent reform. Due to the limitation of space, this chapter will confine itself to presenting the primary level curricula. It will close with a discussion of several issues of the mathematics curriculum in Taiwan that may also bear international relevancy.
